Abstract
The present invention provides tertiary and secondary amine compounds of the formula ##STR1## and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof which are antagonists for alpha-2 adrenoreceptors and which inhibit serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) uptake.
Claims13
A compound or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof having the structure ##STR23## wherein B is hydrogen or alkyl of from one to three carbon atoms;
- R.sub.1 is alkoxy of from one to four carbon atoms;
- R.sub.2 is hydrogen or, taken together with R.sub.1 is methylenedioxy or ethylenedioxy;
- R.sub.3 is hydrogen, fluorine, or chlorine, and
- D is selected from the group consisting of ##STR24## wherein R.sub.7 is one, two or three substituents independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl of from one to four carbon atoms, halogen, hydroxy, alkoxy of from one to four carbon atoms, amino, and thioalkoxy of from one to four carbon atoms;
- and
- R.sub.8 is selected from hydrogen, lower alkyl and alkylsulfonyl.
A compound having the name 5,6-methylenedioxy-1-[(N-methyl-N-(2-(N-methylsulfonyl)dihydroisoindol-4-y l)ethyl)methyl]-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
