Photographic elements containing at least one layer containing polymeric particles surrounded by a layer of colloidal inorganic particles and separate particles of colloidal silica.

A photographic element comprising at least one light-sensitive layer on a support said element containing in at least one layer, a first particulate material and a second particulate material, said first particulate material being polymeric particles having a core surrounded by a shell of colloidal inorganic particles and said second particulate material being colloidal silica.
