Abstract
A process for the preparation of toner compositions with excellent humidity characteristics and comprised of resin particles, and pigment particles which comprises adding thereto metal oxide particles surface treated with a metal salt complex charge enhancing additive.
Claims9
An imaging process consisting essentially of (1) charging an imaging member in an imaging apparatus;
- (2) creating on the member a latent image comprising areas of high, intermediate, and low potential;
- (3) developing the low areas of potential with a first developer comprising carrier and a substantially humidity insensitive toner comprised of resin particles and pigment particles having added thereto metal oxide particles surface treated with a metal salt complex charge enhancing additive selected from the group consisting of bis{4-[(3',5'-dinitro-2'-hydroxybenzene)azo]-3-hydroxy-2-naphthanilide} chromate (-1) hydrogen, bis{4-[(3',5'-dinitro-2'-hydroxybenzene)azo]-3-hydroxy-2-naphthanilide} cobaltate (-1) hydrogen, and bis{4-[(3',5'-dinitro-2'-hydroxybenzene)azo]-3-hydroxy-2-naphthanilide} ferrate (-1) hydrogen;
- (4) developing the high areas of potential with a second developer comprising carrier and a second toner comprised of resin, pigment, and a charge enhancing additive;
- (5) transferring the resulting developed image to a substrate;
- and (6) fixing the image thereto.
