Abstract
An optical response element is disclosed, comprising at least a photosensitive chromoprotein and a substance capable of changing its optical characteristics on application of an electric field or through an electrochemical reaction.
Claims10
An optical response element, which comprises the following consecutive layers:
- a thin film photoreceptor layer comprising molecules of photosensitive chromoprotein oriented in one direction;
- a polymer film layer for liquid crystal orientation;
- and a thin film liquid crystal layer comprising a liquid crystal substance capable of changing its optical characteristics on application of an electric field.
