Abstract
The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for applying flat punched elements in the desired position to the surface of a carrier material, the elements being present in multiple copies on a sheet. The multiple copies are fed to an applying device and positioned therein. At the same time as individual elements are separated out or punched, these elements are fixed in position with respect to the carrier material.
Claims21
A method for applying a flat punched paper strip element in a desired position onto the surface of a plastic carrier material, comprising the steps of:
- a) providing multiple copies of the paper strip element on a punching material sheet;
- b) feeding the multiple copies and punching material sheet to a punching device comprising a punch bed and a die, and positioning them therein, said punch bed being removable from the location of the die;
- c) punching a strip element from the punching material sheet on the punch bed;
- d) locating the strip element at a predetermined position relative to the punch bed during and after the punching step;
- e) moving the punch bed and strip element away from the die while the strip element is located at its position;
- and
- f) bringing the strip element while retained on the punch bed in said predetermined position together with a plastic carrier material and bonding them together.
A method for applying a flat punched paper strip element in a desired position onto the surface of a plastic carrier material, comprising the steps of:
- a) providing multiple copies of the paper strip element on a punching material sheet;
- b) feeding the multiple copies and punching material to a punching device comprising a punch bed, a punch die, and a movable back pressure plate arranged to function as a vacuum gripper and positioning said strip elements and punching material therein;
- c) punching the strip element from the punching material sheet;
- d) locating the strip element at a predetermined position during and after the punching step;
- e) applying a vacuum to actuate the vacuum gripper of the back pressure plate and moving the strip element by the back pressure plate vacuum gripper to a working bed and depositing it in a predetermined position on the working bed by releasing the vacuum;
- f) bringing the strip element in said position together with a carrier material and bonding them together on the working bed.
A method for applying a flat punched paper strip element in a desired position onto the surface of a plastic carrier material, comprising the steps of:
- a) providing multiple copies of the paper strip element on a punching material sheet;
- b) feeding the multiple copies and punching material sheet to a rotary punching device including at least a rotating punch bed;
- c) punching a strip element from the punching material sheet onto the punch bed while the punch bed is rotating;
- d) locating the strip element at a predetermined position relative to the rotating punch bed during and after the punching step;
- e) providing a plastic sheet carrier material and feeding the carrier material so that it moves across a surface of the rotating punch bed at a location beyond the punching position relative to the rotary direction of the punch bed and in synchronism with the moving punching sheet material and punched strip elements;
- f) bringing the strip element in said predetermined position on the punch bed together with the carrier material and bonding them together on the rotating punch bed of the punching device.
A method for applying a flat punched paper strip element on a desired position onto the surface of a plastic carrier material, comprising the steps of:
- a) providing multiple copies of the paper strip element as one of multiple copies on a punching material sheet;
- b) feeding the multiple copies and punching material sheet to a punching device comprising a punch bed and a die, and positioning them therein;
- c) providing a thickness compensating sheet and positioning it in the punch bed and die;
- d) punching a strip element from the punching material sheet and simultaneously punching a thickness compensating apertured element from said thickness compensating sheet in the same working step;
- e) locating the strip element at a predetermined position on the carrier material after the punching step;
- f) bonding the strip material at said position on said carrier material;
- and
- g) bonding the thickness compensating element together with the strip element in registration with an aperture in the thickness compensating element on the carrier material.
A method for applying a flat punched element in a desired position onto the surface of a carrier material comprising the steps of:
- a) supplying multiplies copies of the elements on a punching material, including prepunching the elements in such a way that they are each held on the punching material sheet only by narrow bridges, and
- b) feeding the elements while held on the punching material with the carrier material to a severing and fixing device, and simultaneously fixing one of the elements in position with respect to the carrier material and separating the element from the punching material by severing the bridges connecting the element to the punching material.
A method for applying a flat punch element to an identity card comprising the steps of pressing the punched element into the card material under the action of heat and pressure using a die whose contour corresponds to that of the punched element, and channeling the card material displaced from the area below the punched element with the aid of mold parts so as to produce an area of card material thicker than the normal thickness of the card in the area immediately surrounding the punched element.
A method for applying a flat punched sheet element to a surface of a plastic identity card including the steps of first flat punching a sheet element from a punching sheet onto a surface of an identity card and bonding the flat punched element on the surface of the identity card;
- and then, as a separate step, embedding the edge areas only of the punched element in the card surface material under the action of heat and pressure.
A method for applying flat punched paper strip elements in a desired position to the surface of a plastic carrier material comprising the steps of:
- a) providing multiple copies of the strip elements on a sheet of punching material, and feeding the multiple copies and punching material sheet to a punching device comprising a punch bed and a die, and positioning them therein;
- b) punching the strip elements from the punching material sheet as a group of strip elements;
- c) fixing the position of the strip elements in the group relative to each other and at least a portion of the punching device during the punching processing;
- and
- d) transferring the strip elements as a group in their relative fixed positions by using at least a portion of the punching device to a carrier material and bonding the elements and carrier material together with the strip elements maintained in their relative positions.
A method for applying flat punched paper strip elements in a desired position to the surface of a plastic carrier material comprising the steps of:
- a) providing multiple copies of the strip elements on a sheet of punching material and feeding the multiple copies and punching material sheet to a punching device comprising a punch bed and a die, and positioning them therein;
- b) punching the strip elements from the punching material sheet as a group of strip elements;
- c) locating the strip elements at a predetermined position relative to each other during and after the punching step;
- and
- d) bringing the strip elements as a group in their predetermined relative positions together with a carrier material and bonding them together with the strips in said relative positions,
A method for applying a flat punched element to an identity card comprising the steps of pressing a die having a contour corresponding to that of the punched element into the card material to produce a depression in the card material and to channel the card material displaced from the area below the die with the aid of mold parts so as to produce an area of card material thicker than the normal thickness of the card in the area immediately surrounding the depression;
- and thereafter inserting the punched element into the depression.
