Abstract
A method for synthesizing camptothecin analogs using a novel hydroxyl-containing tricyclic intermediate and the camptothecin analogs produced by the process. The camptothecin analogs are effective inhibitors of topoisomerase.
Claims1
A method of inhibiting the enzyme topoisomerase I in a mammal, comprising:
- administering to said mammal an effective inhibitory amount of 10,11-methylenedioxy-20(S)-camptothecin free of 10,11-methylenedioxy-20(R)-camptothcin.
