The present invention relates to surface-modified pigments based on platelet-shaped substrates having improved dispersibility and to their preparation and use.

A surface-modified, platelet-shaped pigment, coated with a modifying reagent comprising a polyacrylate, a polymethacrylate or a water-soluble salt thereof, with a high degree of dispersibility thereof in a paint or printing ink.
