Abstract
Disclosed is an ink jet recording head comprising a plurality of channels, wherein the channels are capable of being filled with ink from an ink supply and wherein the channels terminate in nozzles on one surface of the printhead, the surface being coated with a polyimide-siloxane block copolymer.
Claims19
An ink jet printhead comprising a plurality of channels, wherein the channels are capable of being filled with ink from an ink supply and wherein the channels terminate in nozzles on one surface of the printhead, the surface being coated with a polyimide-siloxane block copolymer.
A process for preparing a printhead suitable for ink jet printing which comprises dissolving a polyimide-siloxane block copolymer in a suitable solvent;
- applying the solution thus formed to an ink jet printhead comprising a plurality of channels, wherein the channels are capable of being filled with ink from an ink supply and wherein the channels terminate in nozzles on one surface of the printhead, the solution being applied to said surface;
- and allowing the solvent to evaporate, thereby forming a film of the copolymer on said surface.
A process for preparing a printhead which comprises coating a polyimide-siloxane block copolymer onto at least one surface of a substrate;
- contacting the coated surface of the substrate to an ink jet printhead comprising a plurality of channels, wherein the channels are capable of being filled with ink from an ink supply and wherein the channels terminate in nozzles on one surface of the printhead, the coated substrate being contacted to said surface;
- and causing a film of the copolymer to be transferred from the substrate to said surface.
An ink jet printing process which comprises (1) providing an ink jet printhead comprising a plurality of channels, wherein the channels are capable of being filled with ink from an ink supply and wherein the channels terminate in nozzles on one surface of the printhead, the surface being coated with a polyimide-siloxane block copolymer;
- (2) filling the channels with an ink;
- and (3) causing droplets of ink to be expelled from the nozzles onto a receiver sheet in an image pattern.
A thermal ink jet printing process which comprises (1) providing an ink jet printhead comprising a plurality of channels, wherein the channels are capable of being filled with ink from an ink supply and wherein the channels terminate in nozzles on one surface of the printhead, the surface being coated with a polyimide-siloxane block copolymer;
- (2) filling the channels with an ink;
- and (3) heating selected channels, thereby causing droplets of ink to be expelled from the nozzles onto a receiver sheet in an image pattern.
