Abstract
Patients suffering from neurodegenerative diseases are treated by administering an effective amount of a meta-nicotine compound.

A method for treating a patient suffering from senile dementia of the Alzheimer's type, the method comprising administering to the patient an effective amount of a compound having the formula:
- ##STR2## where n represents an integer from 1-5, m represents an integer from 0-4, R represents H or alkyl, and X represents alkyl or halo.
A method for treating a patient suffering from Parkinson's disease, the method comprising administering to the patient an effective amount of a compound having the formula:
- ##STR3## where n represents an integer from 1-5, m represents an integer from 0-4, R represents H or alkyl, and X represents alkyl or halo.
