Abstract
New electrostatographic toners and developers are provided containing novel charge control agents comprising ester-containing quaternary pyridinium salts having the structure: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is alkyl or aryl, X is CH.sub.2n, Y is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen, Z.crclbar. is an anion and n is an integer from 2 to 6. Such ester-containing quaternary pyridinium salts also cause toner particles containing them to display lower fusing temperatures and improved adhesion indexes.

A dry, particulate electrostatographic toner composition comprising a polymeric binder and a charge control agent comprising an ester-containing quaternary pyridinium salt having the structure:
- ##STR4## wherein R.sub.1 is alkyl or aryl, X is CH.sub.2, Y is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen, Z.crclbar. is an anion and n is an integer from 2 to 6.
