This present invention relates to a disproportionation catalyst and a process for preparing a disproportionation catalyst comprising forming a calcined composite comprising at least one of molybdenum and rhenium supported on an inorganic oxide support and contacting the calcined composite with an organosilane compound selected from the group consisting of silanes containing at least one silicon-hydrogen bond per molecule, silanes containing at least one silicon-silicon bond per molecule and mixtures thereof, and to a process for the disproportionation of olefinic hydrocarbons comprising contacting at least one olefinic hydrocarbon with a catalyst comprising at least one of molybdenum and rhenium supported on an inorganic oxide support promoted with an organosilane compound selected from the group consisting of silanes containing at least one silicon-hydrogen bond per molecule, silanes containing at least one silicon-silicon bond per molecule and mixtures thereof.
A process for the disproportionation of olefinic hydrocarbons having carbon numbers ranging from C.sub.2 to about C.sub.50 which comprises contacting at least one olefinic hydrocarbon with a catalyst comprising at least one of molybdenum and rhenium supported on an inorganic oxide support promoted with an organosilane compound selected from the group consisting of triethylsilane, tricyclohexylsilane, trimethylsilane, diethylsilane, diphenylsilane, triphenylsilane, hexamethyldisilane, hexaethyldisilane, trimethyltriethyldisilane, hexaphenyldisilane, and mixtures thereof.
A process for the disproportionation of olefinic hydrocarbons having carbon numbers ranging from C.sub.2 to about C.sub.50 which comprises contacting at least one olefinic hydrocarbon with a catalyst prepared by forming a calcined composite comprising at least one of molybdenum and rhenium supported on an inorganic oxide support and contacting the calcined composite with an organosilane compound selected from the group consisting of triethylsilane, tricyclohexylsilane, trimethylsilane, diethylsilane, diphenylsilane, triphenylsilane, hexamethyldisilane, hexaethyldisilane, trimethyltriethyldisilane, hexaphenyldisilane, and mixtures thereof.
