Abstract
A single step process for the oxidation of an olefin to its respective .alpha.-,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid is described. The olefin in vapor form is reacted with oxygen in the presence of a noble metal oxidation catalyst on a hydrophobic support and an aqueous solvent.

A single step process for the oxidation of a C 3 to C6 olefin to its respective .alpha.-,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid, comprising reacting the olefin in vapour form, with oxygen in the presence of a noble metal oxidation catalyst on a hydrophobic support and an aqueous solvent.
