Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for the n-alkylation and n-allylation of anilines by bringing the aniline into contact with an alkylating or allylating agent in an organic solvent in a homogeneous liquid phase in the presence of an onium ion and a stoichiometric amount of a non-quaternizable base.
Claims18
A process for the N-monoalkylation or N-monoallylation of an aniline, wherein the aniline and an alkylating or allylating agent, selected from the group consisting of alkyl chlorides, alkyl bromides, alkyl sulfates, allyl chlorides, allyl bromides and allyl sulfates, are brought into contact in an organic solvent in a homogeneous liquid phase in the presence of an onium ion and a stoichiometric amount of a non-quaternizable base.
