Abstract
This invention relates to aminoethylthiophene derivatives and more particularly 2-and 3-aminoethylthiophene derivatives which are useful as antiarrhythmic agents, their methods of use as antiarrhythmic agents, and novel intermediate compounds useful for preparation of the aminoethylthiophene derivatives of the invention.
Claims14
A compound of the following formula:
- ##STR4## where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 branched chain alkyl, aryl, phenyl or substituted aryl or phenyl where the substituents are halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxy;
- R.sub.3 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl or C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 branched chain alkyl;
- X is (CH.sub.2).sub.n, (CH.sub.2).sub.n+1 O, (CH.sub.2).sub.2 NR.sub.5 CO, or (CH.sub.2).sub.2 NR.sub.5 SO.sub.2 ;
- R.sub.4 is a mono-, di- or tri-sustituent which may be the same or different and is halogen, NO.sub.2, NH.sub.2, NHCOR.sub.6 or NHSO.sub.2 R.sub.6 ;
- n is 1-5;
- R.sub.5 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 branched chain alkyl;
- R.sub.6 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.5 branched chain alkyl or phenyl;
- and
- substantially pure stereoisomers and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
