Abstract
Synthetic filaments having a trilobal or tetralobal cross-sectional shape with substantial convex curves, connected by cusps, along the contour of each lobe. The filaments are especially suitable for making carpets which exhibit low glitter, high bulk, and resistance to fibrillation.
Claims7
A filament comprising a synthetic polymer and characterized by a tetralobal cross-section having substantial convex curves, connected by cusps, along the contour of each lobe and being essentially free of flat surfaces, with 2 to 20 curvature reversals per lobe and a modification ratio of about 1.2 to 4.5.
