Abstract
Disclosed is a two-step method for the preparation of cyclic urea products which comprises: heating a diamine with urea in a mole ratio of about 1 at a temperature from about 120.degree. C. to 140.degree. C. until a mole of ammonia is liberated and slowly heating the intermediate with an alcohol or polyether solvent to a temperature from about 160.degree. C. to 200.degree. C. to produce the cyclic urea products.
Claims12
A two-step method for the preparation of a large ring cyclic urea which comprises:
- heating about one mole of a diamine having 8 to 22 carbon atoms between NH.sub.2 groups with one mole of urea to a temperature from about 120.degree. C. to 140.degree. C. until 1 mole of ammonia is liberated and slowly heating the intermediate with a solvent selected from the group consisting of alcohols and polyethers to a temperature from about 160.degree. C. to 200.degree. C. to produce the large ring cyclic urea products.
