Abstract
The nucleotide sequence of the genome for bovine diarrhea virus (BDV) is disclosed. The sequence permits design and construction of vaccines effective against BDV.
Claims10
Am isolated and purified recombinant DNA fragment which encodes at least one viral polypeptide encoded by the BDV genomic sequences shown in FIG. 2.
A recombinant expression system functional in a compatible host cell, to effect the production of a BDV protein, which expression system comprises:
- an open reading frame within the DNA sequence of FIG. 2 or a degenerate DNA sequence encoding the same protein.
A recombinant expression system comprising:
- a coding portion consisting essentially of a DNA that encodes BDV protein or a portion thereof encoded by the DNA sequence of FIG. 2, wherein said DNA is operably linked to a control sequence functional in a compatible host.
A probe useful in detecting the BDV genome, which probe comprises a portion of the nucleotide sequence of FIG. 2 effective to hybridize to said genome.
