Abstract
A method for producing a silver halide photographic emulsion comprising silver iodobromide or iodobromochloride grains having an average iodine content of less than 1.0 mol %, which comprises the following step (a) or (b) to form a surface portion of the grains such that the step provides the surface portion having an iodine content of 0.005 mol % to less than 0.3 mol % based on the total amount of silver in the grains: (a) adding simultaneously a silver nitrate solution and a solution which contains iodine ion; or (b) adding fine particles of AgI and/or fine particles of AgBrI. The emulsion thus produced is suitable for photosensitive materials which are subjected to ultra-rapid automatic development processing.
Claims16
A method for producing a silver halide photographic emulsion comprising silver iodobromide or iodobromochloride grains having an average iodine content of less than 1.0 mol %, wherein each grain comprises a basic grain and a surface portion, which comprises the following step (a) or (b) to form said surface portion of the grains such that said step (a) or said step (b) provides the surface portion having an iodine content of 0.005 mol % to less than 0.3 mol % based on the total amount of silver of said grains:
- (a) adding simultaneously a silver nitrate solution and a solution which contains iodine ion;
- or
- (b) adding fine particles of AgI and/or fine particles of AgBrI.
