Abstract
Compounds of the general formula: ##STR1## (wherein R represents --CH(CH.sub.2 OH).sub.2 or --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 OH) possess a package of favorable parameters which render them of particular use not only in all forms of intravascular visualization but also in myelography. The compounds are prepared by reaction of the corresponding 5-monoacetylamino compound with one or more reagents effective to introduce the 2-hydroxy-3-methoxypropyl group.

A compound of the formula:
- ##STR6## wherein R represents --CH(CH.sub.2 OH).sub.2 or --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 OH;
- including the stereoisomeric forms thereof separately or in combination.
N,N'-bis(1 ,3-dihydroxy-2-propyl)-5-[N-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxypropyl)acetamido]-2,4,6-tri iodoisophthalamide.
N,N'-bis(2,3-dih ydroxypropyl)-5-[N-2-hydroxy-3-methoxypropyl)acetamido]-2,4,6-triiodoisopht halamide.
