Abstract
A alkali-soluble dye for a waterfast ink having structural formula as follows: ##STR1## and an ink containing the dye dissolved in water. Printing from the ink is insoluble below pH 6.0; is an intense black at low concentration; and remains black on acid papers. The aqueous inks are stable and exhibit good printhead nozzle maintenance.
Claims39
A dye of the structural formula:
- ##STR11## where;
- R.sub.1 is --H, --CO.sub.2 M, --CH.sub.3, --OR.sub.3, Cl;
- R.sub.2 is -lower alkyl having 1-4 C atoms, -lower alkoxy having 1-4 C atoms, --CH.sub.2 CO.sub.2 M;
- R.sub.3 is -lower alkyl having 1-4 C atoms,
- R.sub.4 is --NH.sub.2, --NHR.sub.3, --NHCH.sub.2 CO.sub.2 H, ##STR12## R.sub.5 is --H, --CO.sub.2 M;
- R.sub.6 is --H, --NH.sub.2 and, when R.sub.5 is --H, R.sub.6 is --NH.sub.2, R.sub.2 is lower alkyl or lower alkoxy, and R.sub.1 is --OC.sub.2 M, --CH.sub.3, --OR.sub.3, Cl,
- M is H, NH.sub.4, Na, K, Li
- and wherein the total number of --CO.sub.2 M groups is 1 to 3.
