A sampling pump is provided suitable for pumping a discrete quantity of either a liquid or a gas per pump stroke from a flow line to a sample vessel. An operator unit drives a piston within the pump bore, and controls the stroke of the piston and thus the quantity of fluid pumped per stroke. A balanced check valve mechanism controls flow from the pump bore to the pump outlet port, and is provided within and carried by the piston. Line pressure acts on the operator end of the piston to assist the operator in driving the piston during its power stroke. A manifold may be secured to the pump body, and has a flow path therein which is in communication with the inlet port to the pump bore. The pump may also be used for injection purposes to introduce a selected quantity of fluid to a high pressure line.
A pump for pumping a selected quantity of fluid with each pump driving stroke from a fluid inlet port to a fluid outlet port, an inlet valve for selectively controlling fluid flow through the fluid inlet port, a pump body defining a pump bore therein, a piston slidably movable within the pump bore and having a fluid inlet end and an opposing operator end, an operator unit for reciprocating the piston within the pump bore, and a manifold interconnected with the pump body, the manifold having (a) a flow path therein extending from a manifold inlet port to a manifold outlet port, the flow path being in communication with the fluid inlet port in the pump body, (b) a filter positioned within the manifold and extending across a portion of the flow path, the filter defining a filtered zone within within the flow path adjoining the inlet port in the pump body, and an unfiltered zone within the flow path extending from the manifold inlet to the manifold outlet, such that filtered fluid enters the pump bore while unfiltered fluid bypasses the filter and passes out the manifold outlet port, (c) a purge passageway extending from the flow path to a purge outlet, (d) a purge valve for regulating fluid flow through the purge passageway.
A pump for pumping a selected quantity of fluid with each pump driving stroke from a fluid inlet port to a fluid outlet port, an inlet valve including an elastomeric seal for controlling fluid flow through the fluid inlet port, a pump body defining a pump bore therein, a piston slidably movable within the pump bore, an operator unit for reciprocating the piston within the pump bore, and a manifold interconnected with the pump body, the manifold having a flow path therein extending from a manifold inlet port to a manifold outlet port for continually passing fluid through the manifold in close proximity to the fluid inlet port, each of the manifold inlet port and manifold outlet port passing through an outer surface of the manifold penetrated by an axis of the pump bore and opposite the operator unit with respect to the piston, the manifold having an inlet port passageway extending between the flow path in the manifold and the fluid inlet port in the pump body, and the manifold having a seat for sealing engagement with the elastomeric seal of the inlet valve, such that the flow path through the manifold passes fluid to the fluid inlet port and the inlet valve seals against the valve seat to control fluid flow through the fluid inlet port.
A method of operating a pump for pumping a selected quantity of fluid with each pump driving stroke from a fluid inlet port to a fluid outlet port, the pump having an inlet valve for selectively controlling fluid flow through the fluid inlet port, a pump body defining a pump bore therein, a piston slidably movable within the pump bore, an operator unit for reciprocating the piston within the pump bore, and a manifold interconnected with the pump body, the method comprising:
