Abstract
The present invention relates to recombinant vaccinia viruses which are derived from the modified virus Ankara (MVA) and which contain a DNA sequence which codes for a foreign antigen. The invention also relates to vaccines which contain a virus of this type in a form suitable for injection, as well as to a method for the preparation thereof. Furthermore, the invention relates to the use of a recombinant vaccinia virus MVA for the preparation of heterologous proteins in eukariotic cells.
Claims5
A modified vaccinia virus Ankara useful in vaccine formulations, said virus comprising a DNA sequence which codes for a foreign antigen without impairing the viability of the MVA, which foreign antigen causes infection or disease.
A vaccine formulation comprising an effective amount of a modified vaccinia virus Anhara comprising a DNA sequence which codes for a foreign antigen without impairing the viability of the MVA, which foreign antigen causes infection or disease, and a physiologically acceptable carrier.
