Abstract
A vari-focal lens system including, in the order from the object side, a first lens unit having a negative refractive power, a second lens unit having a positive refractive power, an aperture stop, a third lens unit having a positive refractive power and a fourth lens unit having a negative refractive power; and using at least one radial GRIN lens element on each side of the aperture stop. This vari-focal lens system has only a very small number of lens elements and had favorably corrected aberrations.
Claims8
A vari-focal lens system comprising, in order from the object side;
- a first lens unit having a negative refractive power,
- a second lens unit having a positive refractive power,
- an aperture stop,
- a third lens unit having a positive refractive power, and
- a fourth lens unit having a negative refractive power,
- wherein at least one radial type graded refractive index lens element is disposed before said aperture stop and at least one radial type graded refractive index lens element is disposed after said aperture stop, and
- wherein said vari-focal lens system varies focal length thereof by varying at least an airspace disposed between said first lens unit and said second lens unit as well as an airspace disposed between said third lens unit and said fourth lens unit.
A vari-focal lens system comprising, in order from the object side:
- a first lens unit having a negative refractive power,
- a second lens unit having a positive refractive power,
- an aperture stop,
- a third lens unit having a positive refractive power, and
- a fourth lens unit having a negative refractive power,
- wherein at least one radial type graded refractive index lens element is disposed before said aperture stop and at least one radial type graded refractive index lens element is disposed after said aperture stop,
- wherein each of said second lens unit and said third lens unit comprises a radial graded refractive index lens element, and
- wherein each of said first lens unit and said fourth lens unit comprises a homogeneous lens element having an aspherical surface.
