Abstract
There is disclosed a novel thiazolidinedione derivative of the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are the same or different and are a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, or a salt thereof. The thiazolidinedione derivative has hypoglycemic activity and hypolipidemic activity.

A thiazolidinedione derivative of the formula (I):
- ##STR5## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are the same or different and are a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof.
A pharmaceutical composition for treating diabetes comprising a thiazolidinedione derivative of the formula (I):
- ##STR6## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are the same or different and are a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof and a pharmacologically acceptable carrier or diluent.
