Abstract
Compositions for the treatment of osteoporosis and related diseases comprise calcitonin and, as an absorption enhancer, a glycyrrhizinate.
Claims22
A pharmaceutical composition comprising a non-toxic, therapeutically effective amount of a calcitonin, a non-toxic effective amount of an absorption enhancer which is a glycyrrhizinate, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
The method of enhancing the absorption of a calcitonin across a mucosal membrane which method comprises co-administering with the calcitonin an effective amount of an absorption enhancer which is a glycyrrhizinate.
A liquid pharmaceutical composition comprising, as a carrier, an aqueous saline solution buffered to approximately pH 6;
- a non-toxic effective amount of a preservative;
- and, per 100ml of composition, 20,000-100,000 International Units of elcatonin and approximately 2 g of ammonium glycyrrhizinate.
