Abstract
A process for the preparation of 1,3-disubstituted imidazolium salts that comprises reaction of an .alpha.-dicarbonyl compound, an aldehyde, an amine and an acid is disclosed.
Claims3
A compound represented by the formula ##STR5## wherein:
- R.sup.3 and R.sup.6 are both n-propyl, isobutyl, or 4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,9,9,10,10,11,11,11-heptadecafluoroundecyl;
- or R.sup.3 is methyl and R.sup.6 is n-propyl;
- X is an anion;
- and
- n is an integer corresponding to the number of anionic charges on X.
