Abstract
Novel [1]benzothieno[2,3-b]pyrazine-2,3(1H,4H)-diones or tautomeric forms thereof of the general formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 independently represent hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or trifluoromethyl. The compounds are useful for treating a central nervous system ailment associated with the NMDA receptor-associated glycine site.

A compound of formula (I) ##STR14## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 independently are hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1-6 -alkyl, C.sub.1-6 -alkoxy or trifluoromethyl;
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
A compound which is 8-fluoro[1]benzothieno [2,3-b]pyrazine-2,3(1H, 4H)=dione;
- 8-chloro[1]benzothieno[2,3-b]pyrazine-2,3(1H, 4H)-dione;
- 8-bromo[1]benzothieno[2,3-b]pyrzine-2,3(1H, 4H)-dione;
- 6-chloro[1]benzothieno[2,3-b]pyrazine-2,3(1H, 4H)-dione;
- 6fluoro[1]benzothieno[2,3-b]pyrzzine-2,3(1H, 4H)-dione;
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
