Abstract
Described are mouth and dental care preparations with improved action against the formation of plaque and containing as their active ingredients sulfophosphoric acid salts of the formula (I): ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, independently of each other, are hydrogen, or the cation M.sup.(+) and R.sup.2 together form the group (OC.sub.n H.sub.2n).sub.x --O--R.sup.3 --SO.sub.3.sup.(-) M.sup.(+), R.sup.3 is an alkylene, hydroxyalkylene or alkenylene group with 8-22 C-atoms, n=2 or 3, x=0 or a number between 1 and 30 and M.sup.(+) is an alkali metal ion, the ammonium ion or a mono-, di- or trialkanolammonium ion with 2-4 C-atoms in the alkanol group. The preparations inhibit in vitro the dissolution and crystal growth of hydroxyapatite.
Claims6
An oral or dental care preparation, wherein the improvement comprises the presence in the preparation of a plaque-inhibiting effective amount of at least one surface-active sulfophosphoric acid ester salt corresponding to general formula I:
- ##STR3## in which R.sup.1 represents hydrogen or a cation M.sup.(+) ;
- R.sup.2 represents hydrogen, a cation M.sup.(+), or a group (OC.sub.n H.sub.2n).sub.x --O--R.sup.3 --SO.sub.3.sup.(-) M.sup.(+) ;
- R.sup.3 is an alkylene, hydroxylakylene or alkenylene group containing 8 to 22 carbon atoms;
- n=2 or 3;
- x=0 or a number of 1 to 30;
- and M.sup.(+) is an alkali metal, ammonium, mono-, di- or trialkaneolammonium ion containing 2 to 4 carbon atoms in the alkanol groups.
