Abstract
A rope for traction of a double structure of a core member coated with a sheath member, in which said core member comprises a molecularly oriented shaped article of an ultrahigh molecular weight polyolefin, and said sheath member comprises a braid. The rope proposed herein is light in weight, floatable on water, easy to handle and excellent in safety to human bodies and weatherability.
Claims4
A rope for traction of a double structure of a core member coated with a sheath member, in which said core member comprises a molecularly oriented shaped article of an ultrahigh molecular weight copolymer of ethylene and at least one alpha-olefin having from 3 to 20 carbon atoms wherein said copolymer of ethylene and at least one alpha-olefin contains from 0.1 to 20 moles of copolymerized alpha-olefin on average per 1000 carbon atoms of said copolymer and has an intrinsic viscosity of at least 5 dl/g, and said sheath member comprises a braid.
