Abstract
A material for a mold which comprises, as main components, a refractory aggregate and a hardenable binder comprising a polyfunctional acrylamide having at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups in the molecule, has an excellent low-temperature rapid hardenability, disintegrability, and pot life and is especially suitable as a material for a mold for casting a low-melting-point metal such as an aluminum alloy.
Claims15
A composition for making a mold in a shell mold process, which consists essentially of a refractory aggregate, a heat hardenable binder and, optionally, at least one additive, said heat hardenable binder comprising a solid polyfunctional acrylamide having at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups in the molecule in an amount of at least 50% by weight of the total weight of the heat hardenable binder, said composition being both dry and free flowing.
