Abstract
Methods for lowering elevated intraocular pressure resulting from the instillation to the eye of sodium hyaluronate during surgery by administration of transition metal complexes are disclosed.
Claims4
A method for lowering elevated intraocular pressure resulting from the instillation of exogenous sodium hyaluronate to the eye during surgery, which comprises administering topically to the eye a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising a compound selected from the group consisting of N,N'-(1,2-ethanediyl)bis[N-(carboxymethyl)glycine], iron complex, sodium salt;
- N,N'-(1,3-propanediyl)bis-[N-(carboxymethyl)glycine] iron complex, sodium salt;
- N,N'-(trans-1,2-cyclohexanediyl)bis[N-(carboxymethyl)glycine], iron complex, sodium salt;
- N,N'-(1,2-propanediyl)bis[N-(carboxymethyl)glycine], iron complex, sodium salt;
- 2,2'-[(1,2-ethanediyl)bis[(carboxymethyl)imino]] bispropionic acid, iron complex, sodium salt;
- N,N'-(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediyl)bis[N-(carboxymethyl)glycine], iron complex, sodium salt;
- N,N'-(2-ethyl-1,3-propanediyl)bis[N-(carboxymethyl)glycine, iron complex, sodium salt;
- and N,N'-(2-methyl-1,3-propanediyl)bis[N-(carboxymethyl)glycine], iron complex, sodium salt.
