Abstract
A method for selecting hyper-producing strains of streptovaricin C by culturing streptomyces spectabilis and separating the asporogenous colonies. The asporogenous colonies are then separately cultured and tested for streptovaricin productivity. Those colonies having the highest productivity may then be easily selected.
Claims2
A biologically sure hyperproducing strain of Streptomyces spectabilis obtained by culturing a wild-type strain of Streptomyces spectabilis;
- growing a multiplicity of colonies from said culture, selecting those colonies which are asporogenous, and isolating a hyperproducing colony from the asporogenous colonies;
- wherein the strain can produce more than about 500 mg/L of Streptovaricin C.
