New liposoluble unsaturated benzalmalonate derivatives and their use as absorbers for ultraviolet radiation in cosmetics

Abstract

The invention relates to an unsaturated benzalmalonate derivative of formula: ##STR1## in which: R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 denote a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl, a trimethylsiloxy, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 straight or branched chain alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 straight or branched chain alkoxy or a --(CH.sub.2).sub.p --C(R.sub.4).dbd.CH.sub.2 radical, where p is an integer between 1 and 10 and preferably between 1 and 4 and R.sub.4 denotes a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 straight or branched chain alkyl radical, one of the two radicals R.sub.1 or R.sub.2 denoting a residue --(CH.sub.2).sub.p --C(R.sub.4).dbd.CH.sub.2, R.sub.3 denotes a hydrogen atom, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 straight or branched chain alkyl radical or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 straight or branched chain alkoxy radical, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6, which are identical or different, denote a C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 straight or branched chain alkyl radical. Use as a sunscreen in cosmetic compositions.
