Abstract
Disclosed are novel erythromycin derivatives, or salts thereof, represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## and processes for preparing the same. The erythromycin derivatives described above have an excellent effect of stimulating the gastrointestinal contractile motion and have low toxicity, and the preparations containing these compounds can be advantageously used as digestive tract contractile motion stimulants.
Claims13
A compound, or salt thereof, represented by the formula:
- ##STR209## wherein:
- R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom,
- R.sup.2 is a hydrogen atom,
- Z stands for the formula:
- ##STR210## wherein R.sup.5 is a hydrogen atom, and R.sup.6 is a hydrogen atom, R.sup.a stands for the formula:

- or R.sup.a stands for the formula:
- ##STR212## wherein R.sup.d is methyl, and R.sup.e and R.sup.f, which may be the same or different, are selected from the group consisting of methyl, ethyl and isopropyl radicals, each of which may be either unsubstituted or substituted by radicals selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl, cyano, halogen, cyclopropyl and propargyl;
- or together R.sup.e and R.sup.f form a pyrrolidino or piperidino ring with the adjacent nitrogen atom;
- and X.sup.- stands for a halogen anion;
- and
- R.sup.11 and R.sup.12 both taken together form a chemical bond.
