Abstract
Apparatus for washing bottles, in which a transfer conveyor define an endless loop belt between an inlet end and outlet end. A plurality of cups are carried along the endless loop. An inlet elevator adjacent the inlet end supplies a quantity of bottles in an open end down orientation to the cups. Fluid injectors are movably mounted on the conveyor to position a nozzle into each open end down oriented bottle to supply fluid to inside of the bottles. An outlet elevator is adjacent outlet end for removing bottles from the apparatus in an open end up orientation.

Apparatus for washing bottles, comprising:
- a transfer conveyor means including a frame and defining an endless loop moving along a path in a direction from an inlet end to an outlet end;
- a plurality of cup means carried along said direction;
- inlet means adjacent said inlet end for supplying a quantity of bottles in an open end down orientation to said cup means, said bottles and cups each including an inside and an outside;
- outlet means adjacent said outlet end for removing bottles from said apparatus in an open end up orientation;
- fluid injector means including an actuatable manifold mounted on said frame and actuatable to position nozzle means in said bottles in said open end down orientation along a predetermined path and including first fluid supply means for supplying fluid to said bottles;
- and
- mounting means for mounting said nozzle means to permit deflection of said nozzle means relative to said manifold if said predetermined path is obstructed.
Apparatus for washing bottles, comprising:
- a transfer conveyor means including a frame and drive means, and defining an endless loop moving along a path in a direction from an inlet to an outlet;
- a plurality of cups positioned with an open end for receiving bottles in an open end down orientation and carried along said path by said conveyor from said inlet to said outlet, said cups and bottles each having an inside and an outside;
- inlet lift means adjacent said inlet for positioning a quantity of bottles in an open end down orientation for gravity feed into said cups;
- outlet means adjacent said outlet for removing bottles from said cup in an open end up orientation;
- and
- fluid injector means including fluid injectors movable to position nozzles in said bottles in said open end down orientation and including first fluid supply means for supplying fluid to said nozzles, said fluid injector means further including a second fluid supply means for spraying the outside of said bottles and cups, said second fluid supply means being positioned above said loop including manifolds mounted transverse to the loop direction;
- said nozzles being mounted using mounting means aligned to deflect said nozzles upon contact between said nozzles and any portion of said transfer conveyor means.
In apparatus for washing bottles having a path for movement of said bottles therealong, a manifold with fluid injection nozzle means movably mounted to position a rigid nozzle in each bottle without normally contacting said bottle, and including fluid supply means for supplying fluid to said manifold and nozzles, and means mounting said nozzles in a predetermined position on said manifold and including means permitting deflection of said nozzles upon contact between said nozzles and any portion of said apparatus including said bottles.
