Abstract
Liquid enzyme preparations comprising at least one anhydrous organic liquid as a vehicle for one or more enzymes and methods for using such preparations e.g. in beamhouse operations in the commercial production of leather.
Claims6
A method for enzymatic deliming and bating of pelts in a bath which comprises the step of contacting said pelts with a liquid formulation comprising at least one enzyme dispersed in a substantially anhydrous organic liquid, said liquid consisting essentially of 5 or 6 membered cyclic carbonate ester as a liquid carrier vehicle therefor with from 0.1 to 6 percent, by weight of said organic liquid, of a finely divided solid inorganic dispersing agent.
A method for the enzymatic soaking of hides and skins in a both which comprises the step of contacting said hides and skins with a liquid formulation comprising at least one enzyme dispersed in a substantially anhydrous organic liquid, said liquid consisting essentially of 5 or 6 membered cyclic carbonate ester as a liquid carrier vehicle therefor with from 0.1 to 6 percent, by weight of said organic liquid, of a finely divided solid inorganic dispersing agent.
A method for the enzymatic degreasing of pelts wherein the enzyme in supplied as a liquid formulation comprising at least one enzyme dispersed in a substantially anhydrous organic liquid said liquid consisting essentially of 5 or 6 membered cyclic carbonate ester as a liquid carrier vehicle therefor with from 0.1 to 6 percent, by weight of said organic liquid, of a finely divided solid inorganic dispersing agent.
