Electricity metering device with cover

An electricity metering device including:

• a base portion;
• a terminal housing having a terminal cavity attached to said base portion;
• a cover hingedly connected to said terminal housing with hinge means;
• a first barrier positioned on said cover adjacent said hinge means;
• a second barrier positioned on said terminal housing adjacent said first barrier;
• an opening in said cover;
• a lug on said cover adjacent said opening;
• and
• a sealing screw including a head having a cross-drilled hole, whereby said sealing screw may be inserted into said opening in said cover, screwed into said terminal housing and rotated until said cover is secured over said terminal cavity and said cross-drilled hole is aligned with said lug on said cover, thereby allowing a sealing wire to be passed through said lug and said cross-drilled hole in said sealing screw.

An electrical metering interbase device for connecting between a primary electrical metering device and a power source, said interbase device comprising:

• a generally cylindrical base portion having first terminal means for connecting with said primary metering device and second terminal means for connecting with said power source;
• a generally rectangular housing connected to said base portion, said housing having a cavity therein;
• a cover member including hinge pins located on the first end of said cover and a hole located at the second end of said cover, said cover further including a lug having a first opening adjacent said hole;
• a hinge socket corresponding to each of said at least one hinge pin for mating, with each of said at least one hinge pin, each hinge socket located on one sidewall of said housing, each said hinge socket adapted to slidably receive a corresponding hinge pin, each of said corresponding hinge pins and hinge sockets hingedly securing said housing and cover member around an axis of rotation, but allowing removal of said cover from said housing upon disabling of each of said hinge pins from each of said corresponding hinge sockets in the direction cf said axis of rotation;
• a first barrier member on said housing and a second barrier member said cover adjacent said first barrier member for preventing disassembly of said hinge pins and hinge sockets when said cover is in a closed position covering said cavity of said housing;
• a sealing screw for securing said cover to said housing, said sealing screw mounted in said hole in said cover, said sealing screw including a second opening therein, whereby when said cover securely attached to said housing by said sealing screw, said first and second openings are in alignment for placement of a sealing device.
