The metal connector comprises a metal connector body and a pair of driven wedges. The metal connector body includes a bottom plate, a core plate secured vertically to the bottom plate, and a pair of wedge guide elements secured to the opposite side faces of the core plate. The metal connector body is connected to one of a pair of wooden members to be jointed to each other and is closely fitted in a fitting recess formed in the other wooden member such that empty portions are formed in the fitting recess adjacent the wedge guide elements. The driven wedges are driven into the empty portions of the fitting recess along the wedge guide elements of the metal connector body, whereupon the other wooden member is forced to move toward the one wooden member until an end thereof is closely contacted with an end of the one wooden member thereby to firmly joint the two wooden members to each other.
