Abstract
A disk stacker is provided with a wiping member which moves in timed relation to the disk. The wiping member can be an elongated flexible wiping member attached at one end to the shaft which rotates the disk, a second end of the wiping member being free to contact a sheet near the output position of the disk. Preferably, the wiping member has length sufficient to extend beyond the diameter of the disk to contact the uppermost sheet on the stack and re-register it against the front registration wall if it has bounced away therefrom. A retaining wall can be provided around a portion of the sheet so that the wiping member does not interfere with the inputting of sheets into the slots in the disk.
Claims18
A disk stacker for receiving and inverting sheets comprising:
- a rotatable disk including at least one slot for receiving a sheet therein;
- rotating means for rotating said rotatable disk;
- feeding means for feeding a sheet from a sheet supply to said slot of said rotatable disk, said rotatable disk being capable of receiving a sheet in said slot when locate at an input position and inverting said sheet by rotating;
- a shaft, said rotatable disk being attached to said shaft to rotate therewith, said rotating means being attached to said shaft so that said rotating means rotates said disk by rotating said shaft;
- registration means, located adjacent an output position of said rotatable disk, for stripping the sheet from said slot of said disk after the sheet has been inverted and for registering a lead edge of the sheet in a final position;
- wiper means, which moves in timed relation to said rotatable disk, for engaging the sheet near said output position and forcing the sheet to contact said registration means, said wiper means including an elongated flexible wiping member attached at one end to said shaft, a second end of said elongated flexible wiping member being free to engage a sheet near the output position, said elongated flexible wiping member having a length so that said second end is capable of extending radially outward beyond the slot of said disk;
- and
- constraining means for constraining the wiping member within a diameter of said disk for a portion of rotation of said wiping member so that said wiping member does not interfere with the inputting of sheets into the slot of said disk.
A disk stacker for receiving and inverting sheets comprising:

- rotating means for rotating said rotatable disk;
- feeding means for feeding a sheet from a sheet supply to said slot of said rotatable disk, said rotatable disk being capable of receiving a sheet in said slot when located at an input position and inverting said sheet by rotating;
- registration means, located adjacent an output position of said rotatable disk, for stripping the sheet from said slot of said disk after the sheet has been inverted and for registering a lead edge of the sheet in a final position;
- an elongated wiping member attached to said rotatable disk for rotation therewith, said wiping member having a length so that said wiping member is capable of extending radially outward beyond the slot of said disk;
- and
- constraining means for constraining said wiping member with a diameter of said disk for a portion of rotation of said wiping member so that said wiping member does not interfere with the inputting of sheets into the slot of said disk while releasing said wiping member near the output position so that said wiping member engages and forces the sheet to contact said registration means.
