A multi-surface wrench is provided which is automatically self-adjustable to capture nuts or bolts of differing sizes over a predetermined useful range. The multi-surface wrench is self-camming upon application of a torque producing or turning force and is ratchetable upon application of a ratcheting force. The multi-surface wrench includes a handle assebmly having a biasing spring disposed therein and a wrench head assembly secured to the handle assembly. The wrench head assembly includes a body member pivotally attached to the handle assembly by a first pivot pin and a hook member pivotally attached to the handle assembly by a second pivot pin. The biasing spring coacts with the hook member for automatic self-adjustment of the wrench head assembly to capture nuts of differing sizes. A turning force applied to the handle assembly causes coaction of the body and hook members to exert locking forces against the captured nut and to create a self-tightening action between the wrench head assembly and the captured nut. A ratcheting force applied to the handle assembly causes a ratcheting coaction between the body and hook members such that the wrench head assembly freely rotates about the nut for subsequent recapture with an acoustic feedback signal and further application of turning forces.
A multi-surface wrench operative on a plurality of standard nuts of different sizes, comprising:
