Finely, divided, precipitated silica with high structure, method of its preparation and use

A method of preparing finely divided precipitated silica with a high structure having the following properties:

• ______________________________________ BET surface (DIN 66 132) of 150 to 350 m.sup.2 /g Stamping density (DIN 53 194) betweeen 60 and 120 g/l DBP absorption number between 3.0 and 4.0 ml/g Particle size distribution at least 70% from 1 to 6 .mu.m, ______________________________________
• comprising:
• forming a mixture of water and sodium silicate, heating said mixture under agitation to a temperature of 70.degree. to 80.degree. C.,
• adding concentrated sulfuric acid to said mixture until half of the sodium present in the mixture has been neutralized, agitating the reaction mixture formed thereby by a shearing action after a waiting period of 30 to 120 minutes, adding sulfuric acid until the pH of the silica suspension produced thereby is 3.0 to 3.5, filtering the suspension to filter the silica off to obtain a silica filter cake, washing the silica filter cake to remove sulfate, dispersing the silica filter cake in water by the addition of water using agitation to form a suspension with a solids content of 80.+-.10 g/l, and recovering the product.
