Media mill having a magnetic circuit of magnetic impellers on a shaft, magnetized media, and a magnetizable outer shell which provides improved efficiency.

In a media mill of the type comprising a magnetizable container, a rotatable multi-polar magnetic agitator within the magnetizable container, the multi-polar magnetic agitator having a central shaft and a plurality of impellers on the shaft at least some of the impellers being magnetic, and magnetizable media within the container, wherein the media particles are sufficiently magnetized by the magnetic agitator so that grinding efficiency is improved and the media particles are present in such quantity as to provide a media volume of at least about 25%.
