Abstract
Bis(1-hydrocarbyloxy-2,2,6,6-tetraalkylpiperidin-4-yl) malonate or malonamide derivatives of 1,3,5-triazine corresponding to the formula ##STR1## are effective light stabilizers in a wide variety of substrate systems.

A compound corresponding to the formula ##STR6## R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.18 alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.18 alkenyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkenyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 bicycloalkyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 aryl, C.sub.7 -C.sub.12 aralkyl or C.sub.7 -C.sub.12 aralkyl substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl or C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 aryl;
- R' is hydrogen or methyl;
- X is --O--or ##STR7## R.sup.2 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl or ##STR8##
