Abstract
There are disclosed novel, highly stable sulfone peroxycarboxylic acids useful in detergent compositions or alone as bleaching agents which are represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein A and B are organic moieties bonded to the sulfur atom by a carbon atom and one of A and B contains from 1 to 4 ##STR2## groups bonded to carbon atoms.
Claims48
A bleaching detergent composition comprising a detergent surfactant and an effective amount of a compound represented by the formula:
- ##STR22## wherein A and B are peroxycarboxylic acid compatible organic moieties bonded to the sulfur atom by a carbon atom, where only one of A and B at the same time contains from 1 to 4 ##STR23## groups bonded to carbon atoms.
A bleaching detergent composition comprising a detergent surfactant and a bleaching effective amount of a compound represented by the formula ##STR25## wherein X and Y are hydrocarbyl groups, where only one of X and Y at the same time is substituted with from 1 to 4 ##STR26## groups.
A dry bleach composition comprising, by weight, from about 0 percent to about 50 percent detergent surfactant, detergent builder or a mixture thereof and from about 1 percent to about 50 percent of a compound represented by the formula ##STR27## wherein A and B are peroxycarboxylic acid compatible organic moieties bonded to the sulfur atom by a carbon atom, where only one of A and B at the same time contains from 1 to 4 ##STR28## groups bonded to carbon atoms.
A dry bleach composition comprising, by weight, from about 0 to about 50 percent detergent surfactant, detergent builder or a mixture thereof and from about 1 percent to about 50 percent of a compound represented by the formula ##STR29## wherein X and Y are hydrocarbyl groups, where only one of X and Y at the same time is substituted with from 1 to 4 ##STR30## groups bonded to carbon atoms.
A process for beaching articles comprising contacting articles to be bleached with an aqueous medium containing a bleach effective amount of a compound represented by the formula:
- ##STR31## wherein A and B are peroxycarboxylic acid compatible organic moieties bonded to the sulfur atom by a carbon atom, where only one of A and B at the same time contains 1 to 4 ##STR32## groups bonded to carbon atoms.
A process for bleaching articles comprising contacting articles to be bleached with an aqueous medium containing a bleaching effective amount of a compound represented by the formula ##STR34## wherein X and Y are hydrocarbyl groups, where only one of X and Y at the same time is substituted with from 1 to 4 ##STR35## groups.
