Monoazo dyes containing a 3-sulfoalkanoylamino or 3-sulfoalkylsulfonylaminoaniline coupling component

An azo of the formula ##STR203## in which D is thienyl, thiazolyl, 7-oxotetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophenyl, isothiazolyl, 1,2,4-thiadiazolyl, 1,3,4-thiadiazolyl, benzthiazolyl, benzisothiazolyl, pyrazolyl, imidazolyl, 1,2,3-triazolyl, 1,2,4-triazolyl, thiophenyl, benzthiophenyl, tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophenyl, pyridinyl, indazolyl, phenyl or naphthyl, each of which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkoxy, C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 alkanoyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 alkanoylamino, C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 alkoxycarbonylamino, C.sub.5 -C.sub.7 cycloalkylcarbonyl, benzoyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or halogen, amino, monoalkylamino or dialkylamino, each of which has 1 to 8 carbon atoms in the alkyl radical, phenylamino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkoxycarbonyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 cycloalkylaminosulfonyl, nitro, cyano, trifluoromethyl, halogen, sulfamoyl, sulfamoyl which is monosubstituted or disubstituted on the nitrogen atom by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.7 cycloalkyl or phenyl, carbamoyl, ureido, hydroxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylsulfonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylaminosulfonyl, phenylsulfonyl or phenoxysulfonyl each of which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, halogen or sulfo, carboxyl, sulfomethyl, sulfo, sulfato, thiosulfato or C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkylthio, benzisothiazolyl, benzthiazolyl, benzisooxazolyl or benzoxazolyl, each of which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or halogen, phenylazo, naphthylazo, or phenoxy or phenylaminosulfonyl both of which are unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or halogen, or phenyl or naphthyl,

• R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently of one another are each C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by hydroxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, phenyl, sulfo, sulfato, thiosulfato, cyano or halogen, C.sub.5 -C.sub.7 cycloalkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, or phenyl or naphthyl which both are unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, C.sub.`-C.sub.4 alkanoylamino, benzoylamino, halogen or sulfo, or the radical ##STR204## is piperazinyl, piperidinyl or morpholinyl, R.sub.3 is hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by hydroxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, phenyl, sulfo, sulfato, thiosulfato, cyano or halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkoxy which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, or phenoxy which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkanoylamino, benzoylamino, halogen or sulfo,
• X is --CO--or --SO.sub.2 --,
• n is the number 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 and
• M is a cation.
