Abstract
Novel compositions comprising cationic polymeric microparticles are disclosed, along with a method for their production. The products are useful in flocculating a wide variety of dispersions of suspended solids.
Claims5
A method of flocculating an aqueous dispersion of suspended solids which comprises (a) adding to and mixing with the dispersion from about 0.1 to about 50,000 parts per million of dispersion, solids of an aqueous solution of a water-insoluble, cross-linked, cationic, polymeric flocculant, having an unswollen number average particle size diameter of less than about 0.5 micron, a solution viscosity of from about 1.2 to about 1.8 mPa.s and a cross-linking agent content above about 4 molar parts per million based on the monomeric units present in the polymer to flocculate said suspended solids, and separating the flocculated suspended solids from said dispersion.
