Abstract
Method for reducing the peak overpressure of an explosion by disposing in the path of the explosion a barrier of an aqueous foam containing dispersion particulates predominately smaller than 200 mesh.
Claims8
A method for reducing the peak overpressure of an explosion produced by an explosive, comprising disposing adjacent to the explosive, or otherwise in the path of the shock wave of the explosion generated by the explosive, a barrier of an aqueous foam containing dispersion particulates, said dispersion particulates comprising particles predominately smaller than 200 mesh to enhance the sound attenuating capability of the aqueous foam without, substantially, destabilizing the foam.
A method of mining utilizing an explosive to blast a geological structure, wherein the peak overpressure of an explosion produced by the explosive is reduced by disposing adjacent to the explosive, or otherwise in the path of the shock wave of the explosion generated by the explosive, a barrier of an aqueous foam containing dispersion particulates, said dispersion particulates comprising particles predominately smaller than 200 mesh, to enhance the sound attenuating capability of the aqueous foam without, substantially, destabilizing the foam.
