Abstract
The conjugate addition of Grignard reagents to alpha, beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds using a series of novel catalysts is described. The catalysts comprise copper(I) complexes with ligand systems comprising either tropocoronand macrocycles or N,N'-dialkylsubstituted aminotroponeimines.
Claims9
An optically active organometallic complex of the formula:
- ##STR20## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are chiral hydrocarbon groups in which there are 4 to 24 carbon atoms and said groups containing heteroatom substituents, R.sub.3 is a halogen or a hydrocarbon of 1 to 24 carbon atoms, M.sub.1 is copper and M.sub.2 is an alkaline metal or an alkaline-earth metal halide.
An optically active organometallic complex of the formula:
- ##STR21## where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are chiral hydrocarbon groups in which there are 4 to 24 carbon atoms and said groups containing heteroatom substituents, R.sub.3 is a halogen or a hydrocarbon of 1 to 24 carbon atoms and M.sub.2 is a positively charged counterion selected from the group consisting of lithium and magnesium halide.
