Abstract
A balance ring (18) which is shrunk fit within each disk (12) of a rotor is selectively ground for detail balance. A plurality of openings (20) through the outer edge of the balance ring receive weights during the assembly balance of the rotor. A snap ring (42) retains the weights within the openings.

A method of balancing a bladed gas turbine engine rotor having a plurality of bladed disks comprising:
- shrink fitting within each disk a balance ring;
- spinning each disk together with the balance ring individually to determine the unbalance of the disk together with the balance ring;
- correcting the unbalance of the disk together with the balance ring by removal of material only from the balance ring;
- assembling a plurality of bladed disks to form a rotor;
- spinning the rotor to determine the unbalance of the rotor;
- and
- correcting the unbalance of the rotor by adding weights at selected locations within the balance ring.
