Security door system

A combination of elements in kit form for assembling to establish a security door system to secure a residential walk-in closet or the like against unauthorized access, said elements comprising:

• a barrel assembly for mounting adjacent the upper edge of a closet doorway to provide support means rotatable about a central axle;
• a roll-up door for positioning across said doorway, said door being rolled about said barrel assembly in kit form and being extendable to close said doorway when said elements are installed to establish said security door system and retractable to roll about said barrel assembly as the door is raised, the door including a plurality of flexible panels and a plurality of rigid reinforcing means interspersed longitudinally between adjacent pairs of panels to form a continuous door;
• and
• a plurality of door guide members for installing in vertical orientation at opposite sides of the doorway to encompass the side edges of the door when it is extended;
• said flexible panels having a plurality of horizontal corrugations, said panels and said reinforcing beams each including structural configurations along adjacent edges which are shaped to mate together in a locking joint;
• the structural configuration of said reinforcing beams comprising first and second opposite edges, each of which is shaped with a hook-shaped re-entrant portion and a generally planar backing portion forming a juncture with the beam;
• the structural configuration of a mating panel edge comprising a hook-shaped re-entrant edge portion shaped to mate with the re-entrant edge portion of a reinforcing beam;
• one of said re-entrant edge portion and backing portion of said first and second edges of a reinforcing beam being deformable in a direction toward the other so that, when pressed together with a re-entrant edge portion of a panel therebetween, said two portions serve to lock an adjacent panel within an edge of the reinforcing beam in a doubly re-entrant joint configuration.
